Illegal Characters - Fixed Error Message

Empty Biml Validation Items box in BIDS Helper 1.6.6 and below
It is possible to write Biml, check it for errors, get an empty Biml Validation Items box without any error messages, and then still be able to generate SSIS packages. Do you have an error in your code or not?

If you have experienced this, it may be caused by using illegal characters in SSIS tasks in your Biml code. These illegal characters are replaced by underscores when the SSIS packages are generated.

In this example I create a Data Flow Task with a name that has illegal characters in it:
Illegal characters in Biml

I check Biml for errors and get an empty Biml Validation Items box:
Illegal characters causing blank Biml Validation Items box

I generate SSIS packages without errors and open the new package. The illegal characters have been replaced by underscores:
Illegal characters in SSIS

If I try to rename the Data Flow Task, SSIS gives me an error saying the name cannot contain illegal characters. This is what I would like to see in the Biml Validation Items box as well:
Error renaming to illegal characters in SSIS
